Research Semesters

The main activity hosted by the Institute consists of research semesters organized around current research topics. The aim is to provide advanced level seminars on specific research problems to graduate students and recent Ph.D.'s in physics and mathematics from Turkey as well as the region. During these research semesters, senior as well as relatively younger scientists who have made important recent contributions to a particular field will be invited to spend extended periods (typically not less than two weeks) at the Institute. They will give research seminars, crash courses and interact intensively with the participants from the region who will be spending the full semester at the Institute.

An international workshop of one or two weeks' duration will be held during the course of each research semester. This will bring together leading experts in the field to discuss recent advances and catalyze new research. Attendance at the workshops will be limited to around 40 participants from Turkey and abroad.

Participants from universities in Turkey and from the region will be supported by the Institute. Provisions are being made for hostel type housing for out-of-town participants. Applications will be evaluated by the organizing commmitee.
